Spring Break Clown Camp coming

Make this the best Spring Break yet! Kids are going to love five full days of clowning around at Key City Theatre’s Spring Break Clown Camp. The camp runs Monday, March 23 to Friday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

We call it Clowning 101 – Nose to Nose connections. Kids aged 10 + will experience the joy of connecting through clown! In this heart-centred workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of clown skills – balloon twisting, face painting, improvisational play and character development, and will experience the life-enriching gift of sharing those skills with others. No experience necessary, just a willingness to be generous of spirit and brave enough to be silly.

Our facilitators are Charmaine Miron and Stefan Bruyere  – Silly of the Valley, Kelowna.

Charmaine Miron (aka Trixie the Clown & Dr. Tilly Tom-Tom) started clowning as a kid but did not graduate to a Red Nose until February 1999. She has done thousands of hours of birthday parties, festivals and stage shows, and had the honour of clowning in hospitals and nursing homes for 12 years in Ontario. She studied Pochenko clown and was trained in “empty-pocket clowning” with Dr. Bernie Warren of Fools for Health. She was also mentored in improv by Michelle Mainwairing, comedienne extraordinaire.  Charmaine is currently studying to be a Certified Education Assistant.

Stefan Bruyere (aka Mr. Brown Knows) brings over 25 years of musical playfulness, a gentle demeanour and an endlessly creative spirit to the workshop and will enhance the overall experience of the participants as the assistant to Charmaine.

Spots for this fun-filled week will fill quickly so don’t delay.

Fee for the week is $125. Register at the Key City Theatre Box Office 250-426-7006 and online at www.keycitytheatre.com/camps
