Summer Walking Tour returning with new tour added

The Cranbrook History Centre (CHC) is excited to announce that this July and August they will be offering walking tours around historic Cranbrook.

They will be offering two tours this summer. The first is an updated version of their popular Downtown Historic Walking Tour, and the second is a newly developed tour of Cranbrook’s historic houses. Both tours are an hour long, and participants should be prepared to stand and walk through the duration of the tour.

Tour Details:

Downtown Historic Walking tour – Thursdays 7 -8 p.m.

The tour will depart outside Cranbrook Photo at the foot of Baker Street, and visitors will walk throughout the downtown core. You will learn about the many historic buildings that once populated Cranbrook’s historic downtown, some that are no longer present today. The tour concludes outside the Mount Baker Hotel, a restored 1923 building that now houses a local restaurant and the 2021 walking tour partner, Soulfood, and the renovated hotel.

*New* Historic House Walking Tour – Saturdays / 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Our Historic House Walking Tour will depart from the farmer’s market at 10th Avenue and 2nd Street South at the end of Rotary Park. From there, visitors will embark on a path through Cranbrook’s historic house neighbourhood. The tour focuses early settlers in Cranbrook, why they came to Cranbrook, and how they made this town their home. The tour finishes at Baker Park, outside Colonel Baker’s house (pictured), the longest standing settler home in Cranbrook, and home to the man who founded the city.

Tickets for both tours are $7.50 + tax and can be purchased at the centre, by phone or online.

Announcing Our Partner:

Every year we collaborate with a local downtown business to offer our Walking Tours visitors a treat! This year, we are partnering with Soulfood.

Soulfood is offering attendees of both our Downtown and Historic House Walking tour will receive a free drink with the purchase of an entrée when they dine at the Farm to Table restaurant. Thank you, Soulfood!
