Suspicious substance dropped off at local school

Cranbrook RCMP is investigating after garbage cans filled with liquid were left at the front of Mount Baker Secondary School overnight.

Early this morning Cranbrook RCMP was called by staff of School District No. 5 to advise that two garbage cans filled with liquid were left at the front of the school.

Investigation reveals that a darker coloured pick up with two occupants, a male and a female, brought garbage cans filled with the liquid substance to the school, leaving them in front of the building.

“Video from the front of the building shows a four door pick-up truck with a blue quad in the back, pulling a flat deck,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron of the Cranbrook RCMP.

“We also do not believe that ill-intent was in play by these individuals.

“We are continuing our investigation,” added Forgeron, “and ask that anyone who recognizes the vehicle or its occupants to contact the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.”

Forgeron said the substance was removed by a local company.
