Two in custody after businesses broken into

Cranbrook RCMP has two males in custody after several businesses were broken into early Saturday morning.

On November 19, Cranbrook RCMP received a call of an alarm at a business in the 600 Block of Patterson St W.Ā An employee of the business attended and notified police that the business had been broken into. Suspects gained entry to this business through a window and items were strewn about. A second portable building was also rummaged through.

RCMP members noted fresh footprints and bicycle tracks in the snow and utilized the Police Dog Service (PDS) to follow the track the suspects had made.Ā The police dog led members to a residence on King Street where two bicycles were located outside the residence.

RCMP remained on scene at the residence until a search warrant was issued.Ā Several people inside the residence were arrested.Ā A search of the residence located several items, which are believed to have been stolen from the several businesses which had been broken into. Clothing items were also seized which matched the impressions located by the PDS team.

ā€œPDS was instrumental in locating all the businesses that had been broken into over the weekend. Cranbrook is lucky to have such a service in the community,ā€ said Cst. Katie Forgeron.

Two males, both residents of Cranbrook, remain in custody to be seen before the courts.

If anyone has any information about this crime spree they are asked to contact the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
