Visitors encouraged to use nearby campgrounds due to closure

Without an operator for the Mount Baker RV Campground for 2021 and the need for major infrastructure repairs to keep the campground running, City of Cranbrook council Jan. 18 directed staff to not open the site for 2021.

The city stated in a news release it understands the closure will impact regular campground guests in 2021. “We recognize we live in an amazing area with plenty of new and exciting alternatives to set up your RV’s and be out to explore.

“Our regular guests to the Mount Baker RV Campground are encouraged to consider any number of provincial parks or private campgrounds including great spaces like: the Regency Resort RV Park; the Rocky Pine RV Park; St. Eugene KOA; Jimsmith Lake Provincial Park; Fort Steele Campground; Fort Steele Resort & RV Park; Moyie Lake and Norbury Lake Provincial Parks; Wasa Lake and Premier Lake Provincial Park.

You can also visit Cranbrook Tourism’s website for lots of camping information.

Plans are in the early stages to begin a public engagement exercise in the coming months, to help identify what possibilities there may be for the Mount Baker RV Campground space.
