The current Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Electoral Area F Director and board vice-chair, as well as out-going president of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities already has strong support from noted regional political figures.

With a decade of experience as an elected official, as well as being a full-time resident in the Columbia Valley, Booth would make “a strong, effective MP,” said Bill Bennett, former Kootenay East MLA and BC Liberal government cabinet minister. “Wendy Booth is one of us with deep roots in the Kootenays. She is smart, hard-working and has a proven successful track record in local government. A great candidate that I support!”

Former Kootenay-Columbia MP David Wilks agrees. “Wendy has the political experience to make an excellent MP for Kootenay-Columbia,” he said.

In 2008, Booth entered local government politics when she successfully defeated an incumbent for the position of the RDEK Area F Director. Over the last 10 years in this position she has worked diligently to represent her constituents and earning their trust.

“When working for her constituents, Wendy is focussed, detail oriented and organized. Wendy’s voice gets heard at the higher levels in support of her constituents. She is a progressive leader in getting things done,” said Clara Reinhardt, Village of Radium Hot Springs Mayor.

Former long-time MP Jim Abbott added: “Wendy’s dedication and commitment are evident given her past successes, she would serve us well.”

Having owned a white-water rafting company for close to 20 years, Booth understands the struggles of small business owners, while at the same time respecting and valuing the natural environment and lifestyle, which is why she is committed to continue to serve the public.

In a common thread of character, Doug Clovechok, MLA for Columbia River-Revelstoke noted, “Wendy Booth has and will continue to work tirelessly, to get the job done; her leadership skills are outstanding!”

Booth has lived in Dutch Creek, just south of Fairmont Hot Springs, with her husband of over 20 years and her two black Labrador retrievers. She has a business degree, and has taught and coached downhill skiing at Panorama Mountain Village and Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. The Kootenay-Columbia has been Wendy’s home since first arriving in her early twenties.
