Bringing community to the 55+ Games

East Kootenay Community Credit Union (EKC) is proud to become a Gold Sponsor at the 2018 Kimberley/Cranbrook 55+ BC Games being held September 11 to 15. In addition to the sponsorship, EKC has 25 staff committed to volunteering; thatā€™s over 40% of the financial institution out serving the community.

The staff hope to adopt Track & Field as their volunteer focus. Athletics was a logical focus for the staff as they were supportive several years ago to help save the track at the College of the Rockies and since then hold the bragging rights at the JCI Kootenay Fun Run for winning the five km Corporate Challenge, with a team of 19 and raising $2,000 for ALS.

Mindy Atti, Branch Manager at EKC states, ā€œBeyond encouraging healthy lifestyles of all ages, the 2018 Kimberley/Cranbrook 55+ BC Games will directly benefit our communities. As we (EKC) play a big role in the community we want to help make the games the best they can be.ā€ She went on to challenge all the businesses to get involved and encourage their staff to volunteer.

EKC staff offered several reasons why they volunteer, ā€œInvolvement is really important to us and our communities, especially with such an exciting event as the games. You feel proud to be living here and volunteering alongside so many fantastic people.ā€

Join EKC in getting involved. Contact the games directly atĀ www.55plusgames.ca. See you (CU) at the games!
