CBC bias in election coverage

Letter to the Editor

With the exception of the ‘At Issue panel,’ many of the CBC panels have a huge bias built directly into them.

They are three member panels drawn from known members or supporters of the Liberal, Conservative and NDP parties panning each other. Where are the panelists drawn from the Green, Bloc Quebecois and Peoples Party of Canada backgrounds?

As a retired political scientist, albeit who has been active with the Green Party since 1993, I found CBC panel coverage of the McLeans debate was extremely biased. It is not that I disagree with the critique of Ms. Elizabeth May and the party’s messaging but what was missing was a critique that came from an equal footing you are giving the Liberals, NDP and Conservatives.

In an election where the Green Party is leading on Vancouver Island for the third federal election in a row, is ahead of the NDP in Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI, all of Alberta except Edmonton, and at least two regions of Ontario Canadians deserve better.

CBC your bias is showing do something about it.
