Cherlet endorsed by current, former MLAs and MP

Nicole Cherlet

BC NDP candidate for Columbia River-Revelstoke, Nicole Cherlet, has received endorsements in the provincial election from a wide range of current and former MLAs, MPs, mayors, and government ministers.

“Nicole Cherlet is the right choice for MLA. She is a city councillor, a successful small business owner and committed to environmental activism. She is young, progressive and community minded. She can be your voice in government. For the first time in 15 years Columbia River-Revelstoke can have their representative in government,” stated Norm Macdonald, MLA for Columbia River-Revelstoke (2005-2017) and Mayor of Golden (1996-1999).

“Nicole will be an excellent MLA because she is a great listener, she’s energetic, and she’s caring. She will work hard on your behalf and will always be there for you,” said Wayne Stetski, MP for Kootenay–Columbia (2015-19) and current Kootenay East BC NDP candidate.

“Nicole’s credentials will make her an amazing asset to our BC NDP caucus and also our rural caucus. I know she will help the government continue to deliver on creating new, affordable childcare spaces for communities in Columbia River-Revelstoke,” said Katrine Conroy, Minister of Children and Family Development (2017-2020) and MLA for Kootenay West (2005-).

“As a city councillor, Nicole showed leadership in pushing the government to support a comprehensive land-use plan for Mt. Begbie that is truly led by the community. It’s now more important than ever for her voice to be in government – I know she will deliver real results for Columbia River-Revelstoke,” noted Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (2017-2020).

“I am grateful for the support of leaders, past and present, who have served our community in so many different ways,” said Cherlet. “I am running to be a strong voice in a majority BC NDP government led by John Horgan. It’s time that Columbia River-Revelstoke had a seat at the table in Victoria.”

Today (Oct. 21) is the final day for advance voting. The general election is Saturday, Oct. 24.
