New fire reported west of Lumberton

BC Wildfire Service this morning (August 9) a new wildfire in the Weaver Creek drainage about 14 km west of Lumberton.

The fire, with an unknown suspected cause, was discovered August 8 and has an estimated size of .3 hectares. It is located about 25 km southwest of Cranbrook.

It is the only fire burning in the region, aside from the South Teepee fire southeast of Cranbrook, noted as under control.

A grass fire alongside Highway 93/95 near Skookumchuck is no longer listed on BC Wildfire Services ‘current wildfire activity’ map.
