Friday Highways Report for the East Kootenay

Friday Highways Report for the East Kootenay is a snapshot to give the travelling public a glimpse of what they may be heading into or out of this Friday (Jan. 24).

Highway 43

Sparwood to Elkford

Winter driving conditions; compact snow. (Above image: Highway 43 at Line Creek.)

Highway 3

Sparwood to B.C. and Alberta Border

Winter driving conditions; watch for slippery sections. (Above image: Highway 3 near Alberta border, east of Sparwood.)

Sparwood to Fernie

Winter driving conditions; compact snow.

Fernie to Elko

Watch for water pooling on the highway. (Above image: Highway 3 at Morrissey.)

Also, bridge construction at Lizard Creek Bridge (three km west of Fernie) is in winter shutdown with a temporary detour in effect seven days a week with no expected delays. Slow down and obey all traffic signs.

Highway 3/93

Elko to Cranbrook

Curzon Junction to Cranbrook

Fort Steele to Canal Flats

Highway 95A

Cranbrook to Kimberley

Earlier this morning black ice was reported. Winter driving conditions. Freezing rain. (Above image: Cranbrook.)

Kimberley to Wasa Junction

Winter driving conditions; watch for slippery sections.

Highway 93

Radium Hot Springs to Alberta Border

Winter driving conditions. There is construction work at West Boundary of Kootenay National Park. Culvert liner installation near Radium Hot Pools. Expect speed reductions to 50 km/h in work zone. No work on long weekends or statutory holidays.

Montana border to Highway 3 

Watch for water pooling.

Highway 95

Radium Hot Springs to Golden
