Friday Highways Report for the East Kootenay is a snapshot to give the travelling public a glimpse of what they may be heading into or out of this weekend. At the time of publication (noon on Feb. 21), all highways in the region are bathed in sunshine thanks to a glorious winter day. DriveBC reports winter driving conditions on all highways, meaning be prepared for any kind of conditions as the day progresses.
Sparwood to Elkford

Bridge construction at Lizard Creek Bridge (three km west of Fernie) is in Winter Shutdown – Temporary detour in effect seven days a week with no expected delays. Slow down and obey all traffic signs.

Radium Hot Springs to Alberta Border
Winter driving conditions.
Construction work at West Boundary of Kootenay National Park (one km north of Radium Hot Springs). Culvert liner installation near Radium Hot Pools; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through March 31. Expect speed reductions to 50 km/h in work zone. No work on long weekends or statutory holidays.
