Greywolf’s Morrison wins first pro tourney

Bootleg Gap Golf Course in Kimberley hosted the Kootenay Professional Golf Tour’s Event #4 on August 17.

To our hosts Trevor Simkins, Aaron Nelson, Harold Simkins and their entire team, thank you for the excellent hospitality and providing a wonderful day out along the St. Mary’s River Valley!

To our tour sponsor and long-time KPT supporter, a big thank you to Ed Wiens of Screamers Ice Cream in Radium Hot Springs!

The heat was a factor August 17 but Austin Morrison of Greywolf Golf Course won his first professional tournament in only his second professional start, with a 4-under par 68 earning $550.

Tied for second place three shots back at 1-under 71 and each winning $350, are Bootleg Gap Golf’s Trevor Simkins and Fairmont Hot Springs Resort’s Jeremy Johnson.

Our next event is Monday, August 31, at Eagle Ranch Golf Resort in Invermere, recently rated #77 in Score Golf’s Top 100 Canadian Golf Courses!

Our final KPT event and Tour Championship is Monday, Sept 21 and Tuesday Sept 22. This will prove to be a magnificent showdown at Les Furber’s SPRINGS at Radium Golf and Gary Browning’s Copper Point Course.

On Monday, October 5, Copper Point Golf Club will be hosting the season ending and 19th annual favourite Black Monday- a two person team event with three different formats challenging players from the black tees. This can be any two people (PRO-PRO, PRO-AM, AM-AM) but there are no stokes given.

This year, tee times will be used to adhere to all COVID-19 related protocols.
