Loads of firewood funds going to Lori’s Fight for Life

A community effort to raise funds for a local undergoing treatment for cancer in Europe continues tomorrow, Nov. 14.

Lori’s “angels” have been splitting and delivering loads of firewood all week to catch up on orders from last Saturday.

“The good news is, we still have several loads available, so we will all be back on site tomorrow ready to put in another day!” Organizers said.

Anyone who is in need of split firewood for the winter, can come down any time after 8:30 a.m.  Volunteers will be on site from 8:30 a.m. until they are sold out (or 5 p.m.- whichever comes first).  It is first come, first serve.

Loads are $150 and we will have a number of volunteers on hand throughout the day to help people load their trucks; however, depending on how busy it is / demand, people should bring gloves too.

Loads are also available for $170 delivered (in nearby proximity) and people can call Lloyd Havens at 250-417-7635 to book a delivery load.

The location of the fundraiser is the Canfor Shop Yard, 1000 Industrial Road #1. Go to the end of Industrial Road #1 and turn right just before the gate, then drive through to the back of the yard behind the Canfor building.

All funds raised are going to Lori Engler’s Fight for Life as she battles Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Lori spent much of her career working at Crestbrook and Tembec and this event has been organized by two of her former coworkers.  We are so grateful to Canfor for donating the load of logs, Barry Shingar & Sons for volunteering to deliver it to the site, and to the army of Lori’s former Crestbrook and Tembec and current RDEK coworkers and friends for making it possible.
