Local KIJHL clubs destined for playoffs
The Kimberley Dynamiters, Fernie Ghostriders and Columbia Valley Rockies are first to third in the Eddie Mountain Division and all three clubs have passports stamped for the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) playoffs.
With a little over two weeks left in the regular season, the Nitros are once again the cream of the crop in the KIJHL with 35 wins, six losses and two overtime losses in 43 games – good for 72 points.
The Ghostriders are a dozen points back with a 28-11-1 (tie)-3 record and 60 points.
While the Rockies’ 22-25-2-4 record and 50 points have them six points ahead of the Creston Valley Thunder Cats.
In upcoming action, The Riders are in Grand Forks this evening (Feb. 6) with a tilt against the Border Bruins, and then they head back to Castlegar for Friday evening match with the Rebels.
The Rockies are in Golden for a 7:30 p.m. tilt against the last place Rockets on Friday evening and then head home to the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena for a Saturday night (7 p.m.) clash with the Kelowna Chiefs.
The Nitros take on the Border Bruins in Grand Forks Friday night and head south of the line to take on Spokane Braves Saturday.
