One killed in early morning crash near Moyie

In the early morning hours, Cranbrook RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 and 95.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Cranbrook RCMP was called to a collision between a logging truck and a small car in the 6000-block of Highway 3 and 95, near Eagleā€™s Nest.

Once on scene police were directed to the vehicle and found that the driver and sole occupant was deceased. The driver of the semi was unhurt.

ā€œInitial reports indicate the eastbound Mitsubishi crossed the centre-line and struck the westbound semi-truck. The collision caused a fire and RCMP was able to extinguish the flames,ā€ reported Cst. Katie Forgeron of Cranbrook RCMP.

The BC Coroners Service attended the scene and is conducting its own concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine what happened.

The investigation is ongoing.
