Police still searching for robbery suspect

RCMP continue to search for a suspect following a robbery that involved a victim being hit with bear spray this morning in Kimberley.

Today, July 21, just after 8 a.m., a gas station on Warren Avenue in Kimberley was robbed.

A lone male entered the building and sprayed the clerk with bear spray. The suspect stole the cash drawer along with lotto tickets.

The suspect ran off behind the building. It’s believed the suspect maybe in possession of firearm.

Video surveillance from a neighbouring business was obtained. The Forensic Identification Section and Police Dog Service attended the scene and are assisting.

Previously the RCMP released a photo of a truck in the area at the same time.

“Officers have since spoken to the registered owner of that vehicle and it is NOT connected to the robbery,” said Sgt. Chris Newel, Kimberley RCMP Detachment commander.

Police are asking persons with dash cams who drove by Kimberley Esso and Western Lodge (The Brook) between 7:55 and 8:04 a.m. to contact Kimberley RCMP.

Should you have any information pertaining to the incident please contact the Kimberley RCMP or Crimestoppers.
