Quarter of regional voters availed advance polls

Advance polls closed Oct. 21, three days before British Columbia’s 33rd provincial election since 1903.

Almost 20% of B.C.’s 3,485,858 registered voters made the most of advance polls, with 681,055 votes cast.

More than one-quarter of East Kootenay voters utilized advance polls.

In Columbia River-Revelstoke, 6,662 votes were cast, or 25.4% of the 26,166 registered voters.

And in Kootenay East, 8,117 votes were cast, or 25.2% of 32,135 registered voters.

Elections BC notes the numbers reflect a count of voters who voted at an advance voting location. Voters are counted in the district where they voted. Advance voting turnout figures reported during the advance voting period are preliminary and subject to change

B.C.’s general election is Saturday, Oct. 24.
