Congratulations on this milestone Debbie, and thank you for all you do.

Moyie and Area Official Community Plan Adopted

The board adopted Bylaw No. 2912 – Moyie and Area Official Community Plan. The OCP is a long range planning document which will guide land use conservation and change in the area over the next 10 to 15 years. RDEK Adopts Strategic Goals and Sets Vision for Strategic Plan
The RDEK Board of Directors has established a series of organizational goals as the first step in the creation of a new Strategic Plan for the corporation. In addition to adopting the goals, the board amended its project rating matrix to reflect these priority areas. The next step in the process will be for all of the projects that have been identified by the directors and RDEK staff to be scored through the rating matrix before coming back to the board for a decision on which projects will be included in the final strategic plan.

Board Supports Application to Increase MRDT in Fernie

The RDEK Board supports Tourism Fernie’s application to increase the Municipal and Regional District Tax collected in the Fernie area to three per cent. The tax, which applies to designated hotel, motel and other short term accommodations, is currently two per cent. If approved, the additional funds would allow Tourism Fernie to spend more funding on destination marketing, management and research.
