Remembrance Day ceremonies in the East Kootenay

The following notes where Remembrance Day ceremonies are being held in the East Kootenay on Monday, Nov. 11.

Canal Flats

At the Cenotaph beside the Canal Flats Civic Centre at 10:45 a.m.

Cranbrook

At Rotary Park – Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. from behind the East Kootenay Credit Union and the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

Following the Remembrance Day ceremonies, spectators and marchers are invited back to Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24 located in the basement of the Heritage Inn at 803 Cranbrook Street North. The general public is invited to attend the Legion after 1 p.m.

Edgewater

At Centennial Park – at 10:55 a.m. The community is invited to a free lunch at Edgewater #199 Legion (4858 Cordillera Avenue) after the ceremony is over.

Elkford

At the Cenotaph now located between the new District of Elkford office and Community Conference Centre at 10:45 a.m. There is a 10 a.m. Remembrance Day Service at the Community Conference Centre. At 11:30 a.m. there is refreshments in the conference centre.

Fernie

At the Cenotaph at the Court House at 10:55 a.m. Ecumenical Service in the Fernie #36 Legion Hall (551 – 1st Avenue) at 11:45 a.m.

Invermere

At Cenotaph on Main Street – The Royal Canadian Legion (Windermere Dist. #71) will lead a procession from 13th Street to the main street cenotaph where a formal ceremony will take place. Following the service, there will be lunch at the legion (525-13th Street).

Kimberley

At Veteran Memorial Park – Parade begins at 10:20 a.m. and ceremony proceeds at 10:55 a.m.

Sparwood

Service at the Senior Citizens’ Drop-In Centre at 10 a.m. At approximately 10:40 a.m., a parade will proceed from there to the Cenotaph, with ceremony proceeding at 10:55 a.m.
