Revelstoke RCMP seek info on July 18 crash

If you were driving on Highway 1 east of Revelstoke early in the morning of July 18 and witnessed a truck crash, RCMP would like to hear from you.

On Thursday July 18, shortly before 5 a.m., BC Ambulance Services notified RCMP with respect to a single vehicle crash located approximately 33 kilometres east of Revelstoke, on the Trans-Canada Highway.

RCMP attended and learned that a westbound semi-tractor trailer unit, hauling equipment, had “jack-knifed” and came to a rest, blocking both lanes.

The highway was closed for approximately three hours.  The driver and his passenger, both from B.C., were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Fortunately there were no other vehicles involved or any other injuries.

Road conditions were described as wet from heavy rain with clear visibility.  Coincidently this crash occurred in the same area as a July 17 fatality crash near Canyon Hot Springs, which claimed the life of an adult male from Alberta.

Revelstoke RCMP would like to remain motorists of the recommended speed sign of 80km/h posted for westbound motorists, prior to the curves, in this area and to obey the rules of the road and drive relative to the conditions.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Revelstoke Detachment at 250-837-5255.
