SAR rescue dog off cliff edge
Cranbrook Search and Rescue (SAR) was today tasked to rescue a dog from a cliff edge near Wardner.
“We requested Kimberley SAR to assist with ropes team. Crews arrived and made a plan and lowered two members to the dog. It was quickly determined that the dog was not too friendly and the two members moved away from the dog. While working on a new plan the owner of the dog arrived and was able to help us get the dog up safely and he is now home. Thank you to the members of the public that located the dog and called for help,” Cranbrook SAR reported on Facebook.
“Search and Rescue in B.C. can be tasked for animal rescues. While we are covered insurance wise, gear replacement (like on normal tasks) is not covered. So please call your local RCMP as normal and it will make its way to us.”
The owners of the dog have been notified.
