Slow down and move over for highway crews

Replacing culverts, shoulder repairs, paving and mowing operations are some of Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting’s regular summer maintenance activities. This means East Kootenay drivers, like you and your loved ones, can expect to see crews working on the road.

Roadside work is a hazardous job. Please slow down and move over when approaching roadside workers and vehicles stopped on the road – it’s the law.

“Remaining safe is a joint responsibility. When you see our crews, please slow down and drive with extreme care. Stay alert, minimize distractions, and show respect for crews at work for you,” said Andries de Witt, Mainroad General Manager.

Mainroad East Kootenay schedules as much work as possible around peak traffic periods (and not during). For road conditions and scheduled traffic diversions, visit www.drivebc.ca.

By the way…if you see unsafe road conditions or debris on a bridge or highway, report it to Mainroad’s 24-hour public information hotline toll free: 1-800-665-4929. We really appreciate it!
