Winter in the East Kootenay
What a weird winter.
Around about January 31, I foolishly bleated on Facebook that I loved living on the warm side of the Rockies, as up to that point, Old Man Winter had pretty much turned his back on the East Kootenay.
And then along with the scorn and derision from friends and families in the prairies came Old Man Winter, just to teach me a lesson. “Screw you pal,” Old Man Winter shouted. “I’ll show you!”
And the month of February turned out to be the longest of the year. Weeks of deep cold and periodic snowfall turned our relatively easy winter into a relatively normal one.
Along with the cold came plenty of much-appreciated blue sky and sunshine and we were able to get out and about on a few of those camera wielding halcyon days.
