Grand openings ahead in Elkford
The District of Elkford has some exciting events coming up.
Things got rolling Friday night (Oct. 13) when the Fernie Ghostriders and Columbia Valley Rockies of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League clashed at the Elkford Arena.
The Eddie Mountain Division rivals skated to a 3-3 draw in front of a good-sized crowd.
That was just the warm up.
On Oct. 21, the district is holding a grand opening for theĀ Devonian Playground and Concession Building located behind the Elkford Aquatic Centre.
The grand opening of the long-awaited project begins at 1 p.m. The project has been spearheaded by The Elkford Community Enhancement Society in partnership with various stakeholders and community volunteers.
There is another special grand opening the next week, Oct. 27.
The Elkford Helipad grand opening commences at 2 p.m. at the site, located behind the Elkford Fire Hall at 2300 Balmer Drive
The event is to acknowledge the much-anticipated helipad completion and recognize the join efforts of all contributors and stakeholders.
