Fall Fernie Writers Mini-Conference Nov. 8 to 10

Featuring Susan Purvis, Keith Liggett and Danielle Gibson

Nov. 8 to 10 the Fernie Writers’ Conference will hold a mini-conference at the Fernie Alpine Resort.

There will only be three sections—a total of 16 adult slots and 10 youth. The mini-conferences allow writers to practice and develop their craft before the revived annual Fernie Writers Conference, August 17-23, 2020.

The conference will once again bring award winning writers to Fernie Alpine Resort for one-week and three-day intensive workshops.

The full line up for the annual conference will be announced in early December.

Creative Non-Fiction with Susan Purvis. (Limited to eight) Tuition: $250

The travails of writing authentically in a memoir are many. Detail? Too much? Too little? The arcs of a life are many and how do we weave them into a compelling narrative.

Bestselling author Sue Purvis found a new direction when three young children were buried plying outside their condo at Crested Butte Resort. Two were rescued and one died. That incident prompted her to find a puppy and start on the difficult road to certifying a rescue dog. While training and passing proficiency tests were difficult, breaking into the male dominated Ski Patrol/Search and Rescue community was even more difficult. Go Find follows the journey of Tasha and Susan in achieving the goal of leaving no one behind.

Sebastian Junger called Go Find, “A brave and profound book.”
