Fernie Fire Rescue and Canadian Tire partner in safety

Fernie Fire Rescue, in partnership with Canadian Tire, is pleased to provide smoke/carbon monoxide detectors for those in need.

Fernie Fire Rescue will now have access to the dual detectors to provide to elderly and vulnerable persons who may need assistance with the financial cost of purchasing or installation of the combination detectors.

“Smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are very important in every household as they provide an alert system for dangerous situations,” said Fernie Fire Prevention Officer, Tom Hopkins.

“Our focus for this pilot project is to assist the elderly and vulnerable persons who may need aid with the purchase and installation of the dual detectors. We thank Canadian Tire for their generosity and donation. By supplying our department with detectors, we can assist those in our community. Providing a dual detector is essential because carbon monoxide is an extremely dangerous gas. The detectors allow us to help people ensure their homes are safe,” he said.

“Fernie Canadian Tire is proud to partner and support the Fernie Fire Rescue by donating dual detectors for those who may require them. We hope that these detectors help the elderly and those who may need additional assistance installing the detectors,” said Angus and Margaret McDonald, Owners of Fernie Canadian Tire.

Fernie Fire Rescue will provide the detectors to individuals when receiving a faulty detector call and to those who may need assistance with installation of the detectors.
