Hot & Cold: Glass Art show coming to Fernie Museum

Opening reception Dec. 13

Elkford artist Katherine Russell is delighted to be showing ‘Hot & Cold: Glass Art in Three Parts’ at the Fernie Museum from December 13 to April 19, 2020.

“This is the most extensive collection of my glasswork I’ve ever shown. It pulls together pieces from all techniques that I work in, from glassblowing to sand carving, kiln-forming to powder printing. It is many years of work, carefully curated to fit all together in one show. It includes two mini exhibitions: ‘Held,’ which was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, and ‘Memories Are Malleable,’ which was funded by Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance, plus a few pieces on loan from private collections,” Russell described.

The opening reception is part of a larger, exciting event: Fire & Ice. Friday, December 13 from 7-11 p.m. at the Fernie Museum.

The following day, Saturday, December 14, Russell will be giving an Artist Talk at 1:30 p.m. upstairs in the gallery. It is free (after admission to the museum which is $5).

The Museum is located at 491 2nd Ave, Fernie and is open 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. every day. The exhibition is on the second floor.
