Pat Gilmar receives Canada 150 medal

On Monday, November 27, at the beginning of the City of Fernie regular meeting of council, an important presentation was made to Fernie citizen Pat Gilmar by Mayor Mary Giuliano (pictured above) on behalf of Senator Nancy Greene Raine.

This was the prestigious Canada 150 medal for good works from the Canadian Senate.

Gilmar was called by Senator Greene Raine to inform him personally of being awarded this honour. Gilmar had the option of travelling to Ottawa to receive his award or have it presented by Mayor Giuliano.

A gift, a special pin and a beautiful medal was sent for presentation. Mayor Giuliano read the letter from the senator who stated Gilmar was receiving this award for the many decades of volunteer work building trails in his community as well as for his volunteer work with the Fernie Trails Alliance and other organizations and projects.

Congratulations Pat, council and the City of Fernie is very proud of you and your achievements and thanks you for the many contributions you have made to this community.
