Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) was called out for a second time Sept. 4 for another injured biker.

A local woman fell from her bike on the Project 9 descent, sustaining injuries to her face and neck, SAR reported on social media.

With darkness falling, Fernie SAR was able to insert a medical response team nearby by helicopter, and they then hiked up to the patient to stabilize her.

Three further teams responded by ATV, UTV and on foot to assist carrying her out to the Island Lake Road where BC Ambulance Service transferred her to Fernie Hospital.
