Tourism Master Plan Zoom overview Sept. 30

On behalf of Fernie’s Tourism Master Plan Champion Group, we are excited to finally present, online at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, an overview of the completed Tourism Master Plan for Fernie, and would like to invite you to attend this virtual Zoom Webinar.

Please mark your calendar and join us.  We will send out the Zoom link prior to the 30th by email.

Tourism has been a part of Fernie’s economy for 100 years with consistent growth increasing over recent years. In 2019 tourism generated over $140 million in revenues and is an important economic industry for the community.

The purpose of developing the plan is to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of tourism in the community which requires a supported vision, strategic plan, action and collaborative effort.

Funded by the Columbia Basin Trust, Tourism Fernie, City of Fernie, Fernie Chamber of Commerce and the Regional District of East Kootenay, over 10% of the local population participated in engagement activities that informed the vision, guiding principles and goals.

When COVID-19 pandemic started in early 2020, the original launch of the plan last March was delayed and the plan was reviewed and updated given the evolving impacts of COVID-19 on the community and industry.

Join us at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30 for an online public presentation providing more details and to meet and hear from Champion Group members.

More details about the development of the plan can be found here www.TourismPlanFernie.com.
