Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) was tasked late on Sunday night (Nov. 29) by Elk Valley RCMP to respond to a report of a missing man where there were few clues as to where to begin the search.

Significant efforts by the RCMP and SAR throughout Sunday night were made to establish activity type and location to begin a search.

“Huge assistance was provided through social media and caring friends. Ground and aerial search teams were able to fairly quickly find the missing man’s vehicle, and shortly after, discovered the missing man, unfortunately deceased,” SAR reported on social media.

“Fernie SAR would like to thank all those who came forward with invaluable information to assist in the search. The thoughts of our entire team are with the man’s family and friends.”
