MLA offers condolences, help following mine accident
Letter to the Editor
As families, friends and our Kootenay East community grapple with the recent and sudden loss of a local Fernie man at the Elkview Operations mine on Sunday, I offer my sincerest condolences to all those affected.
It is always difficult to understand the grief that the family must be feeling right now. I’m sure the investigation that will be ongoing in the coming days and weeks will give a clearer view into what went terribly wrong, and hopefully provide some closure.
In the meantime, I encourage everyone to be respectful of the investigation and please support your friends and neighbours who are feeling the impacts of this accident. I may be a long way away today but my heart is with all of you in Kootenay East.
I look forward to returning home this weekend to offer my help to those who need it.
