District of Sparwood Mayor David Wilks August 17 presented Sparwood Golf Club volunteers with the 2020 Volunteer Organization of the Year Award on behalf of the district council.

This award, along with a cheque for $500 is presented annually to a volunteer organization that: Demonstrates initiative, leadership and creativity in their service to the community; Inspires others to engage in volunteer service; and improves the overall quality of life for residents and the community as a whole

“Throughout 2020, the volunteers of the Sparwood Golf Club have contributed over 5,100 hours to keep the course an excellent amenity that is well used and appreciated by residents and visitors,” the district stated on its website.
