Minor injury to driver after empty cattle hauler jack-knifes
At approximately 1 p.m. today (July 10) Elk Valley RCMP and East Kootenay RCMP Traffic Services responded to a call involving a jack-knifed (empty) cattle hauler on Highway 3 near Corbin Road turnoff, east of Sparwood.
The semi driver lost control and the truck came to a rest in the ditch after striking a power line.
B.C. Ambulance Service, Sparwood Fire Department and BC Hydro also attended the scene. East Kootenay RCMP Traffic Services has conduct of this investigation.
The driver of the cattle hauler was not seriously injured and was taken to the Sparwood Health Centre for medical treatment. There were no other injuries or vehicles involved in the accident.
Alcohol does not seem to be a factor, Elk Valley RCMP reported.
At this time alternating single lane traffic is moving through the area with the assistance of highway traffic flaggers.
Once the cattle hauler has been moved, both lanes will reopen, RCMP said.
