Temporary road closures in district
The District of Sparwood is advising residents that the municipality is temporarily closing Industrial Road #3 and Upper and Lower Matevic Roads.
To facilitate improvements to these gravel roads and ensure public safety, the areas outlined in the map above in red will be closed to pedestrian traffic from September 3 until such time as the construction work is completed.
The contractor hired to complete this work, BA Blacktop, has commenced construction work and will continue until approximately September 20.
Industrial Road #3 and Upper and Lower Matevic Roads will be periodically reduced to single lane alternating traffic for the duration of construction and passage through certain areas may not always be available, except for emergency vehicles.
The areas closed to pedestrian traffic will be identified with closure markers at the trailheads. The district recommends that pedestrians utilize the alternate route, as shown in green on the map during this period.
