Activities will abound at fifth Harvest Party

With fall descending upon the beautiful East Kootenay trench, colours are starting to change and gardens are presenting their fruitful bounty before the winter settles.

The same holds true for the Kimberley Open Gate Garden on Rotary Drive, where countless volunteer and staff hours have gone into producing a community accessible food crop.

As Andrea Chapman, Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook Branch Manager puts it, “After all that hard work – now is the time to party!”

The fifth annual Harvest Party on Sunday September 23 will start at 2 p.m. with many returning activities and new additions. This free event is a chance to partake in a community potluck, taste delicious apple juice crafted during the 2018 Pick and Press Events and race zucchinis from your own garden.

There will be live acoustic music and potato sack races too. In addition, the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank will be on hand to wrap up their Spud Bucket Showdown by weighing in the buckets and unveiling the heftiest bucket of them all.

This Wildsight event always boasts a great all ages turnout where family friendly activities and smiling faces abound. Everyone is welcome.

All that is asked of those attending is to bring a potluck item to share, your fastest zucchini, and friends and family to celebrate the closing of the 2018 growing season. If anyone is interested in attending and has additional questions please contact [email protected] or 250-427-2535.
