Another successful Round the Mountain Race

CN2_0685The ever-popular Round the Mountain Race took place June 26 under ideal conditions.

The race starts and finishes at the Kimberley Nordic Centre but centres around the 20 km route around North Star Mountain.

Hosted by the Kootenay Orienteering Club, the Kimberley Trails Society and the Kootenay Freewheelers’ Cycling Club, the spectacular annual Round The Mountain Festival showcases Kimberley’s beautiful and diverse trail network and features the Round The Mountain Route.

Participants can choose from a variety of seven hiking, running, and mountain biking challenges around North Star Mountain, plus kids races, live music, and food and drinks will provide fun and entertainment for everyone. All events start and finish at the Kimberley Nordic Centre.

CN2_0731One event, seven challenges; 20 km bike, 20 km run, 10 km run, 20 km stroll the toughest being the 40 km dual. The 40 km consists of a 20 km bike then the same course running grueling. Kids races are also held as well in the afternoon.

The event sold out quite some time ago with over 500 participants.
