Avalanche Awareness Day is being held at Kimberley Alpine Resort on January 18.

Activities will include search and rescue dog demos, starting at 10 a.m. and running to 3:30 p.m., as well as avalanche gear demos, scenario challenges with prizes, safety gear giveaways, industry professionals Q&A, first responders and incident prevention specialists on site all weekend.

Feel free to show up at any time during the day to hone your avalanche skills and win some awesome safety swag.

There will be a 3 p.m. wrap up with prizes in the Stemwinder Bar and Grill.

Organizers say a big thank you goes out to Avalanche Canada, BC Adventure Smart, Kimberley Search and Rescue and Cranbrook Search and Rescue.
