Full slate election coming for Kimberley

City of Kimberley voters will once again have plenty of choices among candidates to elect for municipal office on Oct. 20.

Mayor Don McCormick is being challenged by long-time city councillor Albert Hoglund, leaving only four incumbent councillors vying for re-election: Kent Goodwin, Nigel Kitto, Darryl Oakley and Sandra Roberts. Councillor Bev Middlebrook is not seeking re-election.

In total there are 15 candidates vying for the six council seats. The 11 new candidates are: Mac Campbell, Dave Corbould, Kyle Dalum, Kevin Dunnebacke, Craig Janzen, Joshua Lockhart, Jason McBain, Michelle Nex, Wendy Qureshi, Steven Royer and Jay Simon-Cumming.

In addition, five candidates filed to run for the City of Kimberley (Area 2) School District No. 6 school board of trustees seats including the three incumbents: Betty Lou Barrett, Mac Campbell and Sandra Smaill. Former Kimberley Mayor Ron McRae has thrown his hat into the SD6 ring along with Jaret Thompson.
