Happy Hans led the kids parade along with Clarence Uhll on accordion through the streets of Kimberley during First Saturday Oktoberfest celebrations Saturday, Oct. 5.

The kazoos could be heard as they entered The Platzl to open this years Oktoberfest.

Live music by Clarence, Ian Ferrie, L8 and the European Touch, a beer garden, a Bavarian obstacle course and a strudel eating contests were some of the highlights of the event.

City of Kimberley Mayor Don McCormick was also present to crack the first growler and kick off the day, along with a German student to help translate.

The party atmosphere kept the crowds smiling and the taps flowing in a celebration of beer and German heritage.
