Music in the Mountains this weekend in Kimberley

Listen. Can you hear it? The excitement is building. One note, one breath, one song at a time.

The Kimberley Community Choir extends you a very warm welcome to Chorfest 2019: Music in the Mountains – Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19.

We acknowledge that we are blessed to live, work and play on the traditional and unceded lands of the Ktunaxa peoples. We are excited to have you here. When we combine music with a mountain setting, something magical happens!

Chorfest 2019 celebrates that magic with singers from teens to adults who are arriving from across British Columbia and Alberta. Sharing a love of music and learning.

Three separate choirs – the Adult Choir conducted by the legendary Bob Chilcott, the B.C. Youth Choir conducted by Carrie Tennant, and the Teen Choir conducted by Paul Cummings, will come together to perform in our Gala Music in the Mountains Concert at the Kimberley Conference and Athlete Training Centre.

It takes a village to raise an event like Chorfest. We would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the many helping hands who have brought this special weekend from a dream to reality.

The host choirs Kimberley, Cranbrook, and Fernie Community Choirs, have been preparing in many ways for this weekend. We are so excited to hear how these wonderful arrangements by Bob Chilcott have come together over the months leading up to Chorfest 2019.

In ways big and small, we give our heart-felt thanks to all of our volunteers, chaperones, and drivers for making this a memorable weekend.

A special thank you to the Kimberley Conference and Athlete Training Centre, the Kimberley United Church and McKim Middle School for providing places to stretch our musical wings!

In Kimberley, we strive to be a sustainable community, fostering a thriving natural environment. This Chorfest program has been printed on eco-friendly banana leaf paper. Thanks to all who have car- pooled, and who have, in some way, offset the carbon footprint of their travels to our town.

May the memories you take home from Chorfest 2019 be fond ones and add a golden thread to this musical tapestry we have created together. Until we meet again, keep on singing!
