Notes from City Hall

Council Agenda

The March 23 regular meeting of City of Kimberley council has been cancelled. There is a Committee-of-the-Whole meeting scheduled for Monday, March 30. We will update the public on the status of this meeting closer to the date.

City Facilities Remain Closed to the Public

City Hall, the Public Works Yard, Kimberley Aquatic Centre, Kimberley Public Library and Centennial Hall are closed to the public. We will be sure to inform residents when public buildings reopen.

Support Local Restaurants and Businesses

This is going to be a rough time for our local shops and restaurants. Many remain open for business and/or are offering delivery services to help with your needs. Why not order from a local restaurant or visit a shop and buy a gift card or items you need? Let’s do our part to support our local businesses during this uncertain time.

CBT Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Program Funding Meeting

The meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. has been cancelled. We will inform the public of next steps for the Community Initiatives Program when we have more information.

Water and Sewer Line Protection

The city is asking all residents to ensure they are not flushing wipes or paper towels down toilets. These items block pipes and cause big problems in city infrastructure. Please dispose of wipes and paper towels in garbage bags and throw them out at regular garbage collection times.

Protect Yourself Against COVID-19

The most important thing you can do to prevent infection is to wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face.

To help reduce your risk of infection:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Using soap and water is the single most effective way of reducing the spread of infection.
  • If a sink is not available, alcohol based hand rubs (ABHR) can be used to clean your hands as long as they are not visibly soiled. If they are visibly soiled, use a wipe and then ABHR to effectively clean them.
  • Do not touch your face, eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow when you sneeze or cough.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Do not share food, drinks, utensils, etc.
  • British Columbians are strongly advised against all non-essential travel outside of Canada, including to the US.
  • Persons returning from foreign travel, effective immediately, will be asked to self-isolate and remain away from school or work for 14 days upon return.
