Contacting City Hall
City Hall and all public facilities remain closed to the public. Staff continue to work hard to ensure all City of Kimberley services are running smoothly. Utility payments can be made through online banking, by mailing a cheque post-dated to the August 10 due date, or by dropping a cheque through the mail slot at City Hall. Seniors Helping Seniors Program
The City of Kimberley is pleased to support the Summit Community Services – Seniors Helping Seniors Program as they temporarily expand their services to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Kimberley residents who are self-isolated, quarantined, have underlying health conditions, and anyone having difficulty getting out for supplies can seek support from the programs dedicated staff and volunteers.
They will help with:
- Grocery and/or supply pick-up and delivery;
- Prescription pick-up and delivery; and
- Providing referrals to other support agencies.
Residents can call 250-427-8733 to seek support seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Garbage Collection Reminder
Solid waste collection crews are noticing many garbage bins containing loose garbage. City bylaw states that garbage must be bagged and tied. Loose garbage has the potential to fly away and make a mess of your neighbourhood and city staff will not pick it up. Bins with loose garbage will not be collected and your bin will be tagged. Thanks for cooperating with this bylaw.
Utility Payment Deferral Bylaw
The penalty date for second quarter utility payments has been deferred by two months from June 10 to August 10. This will provide some financial relief for property owners who may be affected by current events by giving them two extra months to pay their utility bill. Property owners who wish to pay by the original due date are encouraged to do so. Residents that pay utilities by auto-pay who wish to temporarily suspend their monthly payments, can complete and submit a form to City Hall. The form can be found here.
Backyard Fire Ban Temporarily Lifted
In light of recent rainfall, the Kimberley Fire Department has lifted all restrictions implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic on backyard fire pits. Fire pits can now be operated between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Residents are required to have a permit and all regulations still apply. Annual Mosquito Control Program
The annual mosquito control program is underway. The goal of the program is to suppress local mosquito populations and reduce the potential for widespread adult mosquito annoyance for the benefit of the community. City contractors are working in areas throughout the city to conduct the annual surveillance and control program. They will ensure physical distancing practices are in place throughout the program and will not be knocking on doors. Residents in locations needing treatment will see a door hanger placed on their door and can contact contractors if needed. Helicopter treatment has also begun to treat hard to reach areas in the city. Thanks for your cooperation, Kimberley!
