Contacting City Hall

Kimberley City Hall is opened with several health and safety measures in place. Masks are required inside City Hall and at all indoor public places. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and we will only be open for payments of utility bills, property tax, license fees, permit fees, and transit passes. Stay home if you are sick and leave children and pets at home if possible.  Check out the City of Kimberley Department Directory to reach the appropriate department or individual for your needs.

BC Winter Games Legacy Grants

The city is now accepting applications for the 2021 BC Winter Games Legacy Grants. The deadline to submit an application is February 8 at 4 p.m. The purpose of the BC Winter Games Legacy Grants is to assist amateur sporting groups within the City of Kimberley. Garbage Collection Reminder

Here are some friendly reminders regarding household garbage collection:

• Place carts out for collection no earlier than 5 a.m. and no later than 7 a.m. on your collection day.
• All regular household garbage can be placed inside the cart.
• Waste must be bagged and tied. This will prevent garbage from becoming airborne as well as help keep your cart clean. Anything that is placed inside the cart must be able to fall freely when dumped.
• Do not over-fill your cart; the lid must be able to close completely.
• The maximum weight load for a cart is 59kgs (130 lbs). Please keep in mind that excessive weight in your garbage cart could result in damage to the cart.
• Ensure cart is placed on the ground, level at the road edge and not upon snow banks and that there is 1 metre of clearance around the entire cart with no overhead obstructions.
• In order to prevent odours and avoid attracting bears and other wildlife, residents will still need to securely store their garbage collection carts until their neighbourhood collection day.

Please ensure that you:

Wash your cart out regularly with a mild non-toxic detergent;

Place your garbage into garbage bags inside your cart;

Keep the lid closed at all times.

Help Us Finalize the Active Transportation Network Plan

In the fall of 2020, the City of Kimberley launched a public feedback opportunity for the City’s Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP). The plan that will guide decision making around ways to improve walking, cycling and other modes of active transport in our community. Since that time, staff, and consulting firm Urban Systems, have been working diligently to incorporate that feedback. The result is a robust ATNP for the City of Kimberley that includes 75 recommendations.

Prior to finalizing the plan, the ATNP team is seeking final input from the public to gauge if there is anything we missed. Residents and visitors can view the plan and recommendations online here. This feedback opportunity will be open until February 17. Thank you for your thoughts!

Elk Calving Grounds Protected

At the January 25 regular meeting of council, city councillors unanimously passed a motion to not support recreational trail development in elk calving grounds within Kimberley city limits. The Wycliffe-St. Mary elk herd have been using the land west of Moe’s Canyon and south of Kimberley Alpine Resort (KAR) as calving grounds for years. Recreation including ATV use and mountain biking can have disastrous effects on elk herds by potentially reducing the herds reproductive success.
