2018 Election Advance Voting Opportunities
The City of Kimberley will have two advance voting opportunities, scheduled for Wednesday, October 10 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Wednesday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Both scheduled advance voting days will be held at Centennial Centre, 100-4th Avenue, Kimberley.
2019 Community Grants
The 2019 Community Grant Application forms are now available on the city’s website. The deadline to submit an application is October 15th, 2018. Please note that all 2018 grant recipients must complete a final report to be considered for a 2019 Community Grant.
Bylaw Reminder
The Bylaw Enforcement Officer would like to remind residents that unattached trailers, utility trailers and all materials such as gravel piles or garden waste stored in alleys and on the streets must be moved in preparation for winter. All recreational trailers must be moved off streets and boulevards before October 15. Thank you for your cooperation.
Be Bear Smart
There have been multiple bear sightings around the city and on the NorthStar Rails-to-Trails. Please remember that bears are out in search of food. The biggest attractant for bears in our community is garbage. Properly secure your garbage, and keep it indoors until pick-up, or until you can take it to the transfer station. Pick any fruit from your fruit trees or clean up fallen fruit from your yard, as this is another major bear attractant. Everyone likes the smell of a barbeque, bears included! Please remember to properly clean your BBQ after using it.
Fire Ban Still On
Even with the slightly cooler temperatures, a FIRE BAN is still issued for the City of Kimberley. All fire permits including BBQ pits are suspended. These prohibitions do not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating that uses briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, so long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimetres. The use of a campfire apparatus that does not meet these specifications is prohibited.

Public Skating Programs
Public Skate, Parent & Tot, Senior Skate, Drop-in Figure Skating, Noon Hour Hockey will be starting soon at the Civic Centre. To keep up to date on any changes &/or cancellations to the Public Skating schedule and to view the current weekly ice schedules please visit our website. Transit Commuter Service
The Kimberley Transit System provides a weekday commuter service, making it easier and more convenient for Kimberley residents to get to Cranbrook for work or school. The KC commuter service will run Monday through Friday, arriving in Cranbrook between 8:10 and 8:20 a.m., and leaving for Kimberley in the evenings between 4:40 and 4:50 p.m. For more information about schedule and route, please visit HERE.
Tax Relief for Investment in Business Properties
The ‘Kimberley Investment Incentive Program’ provides opportunities for municipal tax exemption to encourage investment and upgrades to commercial and industrial properties. The program provides tax relief, for a specified term, from 100% of the increase in the municipal portion of property taxes resulting from the increased property value after a commercial, mixed residential-commercial, or industrial project is completed. Brownfield projects are also eligible for relief from 100% of the municipal portion of property taxes while a project involving environmental investigation or remediation activity is in progress. Free Family Swim
Come to the Aquatic Centre and enjoy a Free Family Swim on Wednesday, September 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. sponsored by Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary. Remember persons 18 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
