Easter Weekend Closure and Garbage Schedule Change
Kimberley City Hall and the Public Works Yard will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22. A reminder that the Aquatic Centre is closed until April 23 for the annual maintenance shutdown. Waste that would have been picked up on Friday, April 19 will be picked up on Thursday, April 18. Happy Easter from City staff!
Wildfire Fuels Management Projects Underway
The City of Kimberley Wildfire Fuels Management program currently has six projects underway in the Nature Park, Nordic Park and Forest Crowne areas. Crews are reducing tree density, chipping, and burning piles in these areas so please pay attention to any signage and notices that may be posted. Smoke will be visible for the next couple of months. Notice of Construction
The City of Kimberley plans to complete Phase One of the Fourth Avenue Rehabilitation Project this year, from Boundary Street to Trail Street. Construction is planned to start as early as mid-April and will continue into the early fall months. The first phase of the project will consist of replacing the water, sewer and storm utilities, as well as complete reconstruction of this integral piece of roadway.
Traffic delays along Fourth Avenue are expected for the duration of the project. This will affect all residents that need to access Townsite, including Garden View Village, Kimberley Health Centre and Clinic, Kimberley Special Care Home, and Lindsay Park Elementary School.
The traffic pattern will be reduced to single lane alternating traffic for the majority of the project’s duration. The City of Kimberley apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation in following the traffic changes throughout the construction and ensuring a safe working environment for our crews.

Mark Creek Water Level Warning
Be advised that water levels can change rapidly, and are especially high during spring freshet. Flows are extremely fast when water levels are high and present an extreme danger to anyone falling in the creek. PLEASE STAY CLEAR OF THE CREEK DURING PERIODS OF HIGH FLOW.
Pitch-In Canada
Operation “Clean Sweep” will be held from April 22 to 29. This is open to any groups, neighbourhoods, schools, or individuals that would like to help clean up along the trails, streets, or fields & parks. Take a photo of your group and we will share it on the city’s Facebook page! To register and receive five free garbage bags, please contact the Operations Department at 250-427-9660.
Building Permits & Inspections
Planning a renovation or addition to your home? Dreaming of a new deck or garage? Remember to first obtain a Building Permit before starting your project. The permit and inspection process helps to ensure compliance with health, safety and zoning requirements. Building Permit application forms may be obtained at City Hall or the website. The Building Inspector can help you navigate the application process and discuss the relevant building code and other municipal requirements. Sidewalk Cafe Licences
It’s that time of year to submit a Renewal Agreement for Downtown Sidewalk Café Patios. Forms can be found on the City’s website or are available for pick up at City Hall front reception area. If you are thinking about installing a sidewalk patio for your downtown restaurant please contact [email protected] for more information.
Be Bear Smart
There have been multiple bear sightings around the city and on the Rails-to-Trails. Please remember that bears are coming out of hibernation and are in search of food. The biggest attractant for bears in our community is garbage. Properly secure your garbage, and keep it indoors until pick-up or until you can take it to the transfer station. Everyone likes the smell of a barbecue, bears included! Please remember to properly clean your barbecue after using it.
