Notes from City Hall

Watering Reminder

Watering in the City of Kimberley must be done between the hours of 4 to 10 a.m. AND 6 to 10 p.m. Residents of properties with odd-numbered addresses will water only on odd-numbered days and residents of properties with even-numbered addresses will water only on even-numbered days. Please view the city’s Water Shortage Response Bylaw for more information.

NorthStar Rails-to-Trails

Morning, afternoon or evening…the time is right to get out and enjoy this great trail connecting Kimberley and Cranbrook! Trail Maps and more info available at www.northstarrailtrail.com and also on Facebook. To report an issue with the condition of the trail, please contact: 250-427-9660 (Kimberley) or 250-489-0218 (Cranbrook).

Cemetery Caretaking

The Parks Department kindly reminds anyone placing floral offerings on grave spaces that, except immediately after interment, the following conditions will apply:

  1. Flowers only. Natural or artificial flowers may be placed in grave space containers, provided the container is part of the memorial. Flowers placed on grave spaces may be removed by city staff while performing maintenance duties. Flowers will be disposed at the discretion of city staff when the condition of the flowers is considered detrimental to the beauty of the cemetery.
  2. Floral offerings, wreaths, or ornamental monuments may be placed at the grave space, provided they are free standing and are not staked into the ground. If they are staked into the ground, they will be removed by city staff and disposed of.
  3. The use of wood, glass, porcelain, pottery, or other breakable containers, either above or below the ground is prohibited.

Thank you for making our cemetery a peaceful resting place.

Platzl Courtesy Reminder

The Bylaw Control Officer would like to remind residents, including children, that the Platzl is a pedestrian corridor. Bicycle and skateboard use are limited to the centre fire lane, and using the central gazebo area for jumping and tricks is not permitted.

Off Leash Areas

Did you know that Kimberley has three off-leash areas to exercise your pet? The Kimberley Nature Park, Lois Creek Trails and the Marysville Flats are all designated off-leash spaces. Maintaining control and cleaning up after your animal still applies in these three off-leash areas. If you are walking your pet in any other city park or playfield area, please remember that your animal must be on a leash at all times. To learn more, visit http://www.kimberley.ca/city/bylaws and follow the link to Animal Control.
