Taylors Mill Landing fire now held: Update

UPDATED 11:30 a.m. (July 9)

Kimberley Fire Department firefighters and heavy equipment are onsite again this morning at a ground fire at Taylors Mill Landing. Fire Officials have upgraded the fire status to “Held.”

Fire officials expect the status of the fire to be upgraded to “Under Control” by midday.

The City of Kimberley will continue to update the public as further information becomes available.

Second report

Firefighters have contained 50% of the 0.15-hectare ground fire in the Taylors Mill Landing area east of the city core.

Crews have left the site for the evening and will return in the morning with heavy equipment. Sprinkler systems remain in place.

The cause is believed to be a lightening strike. The City of Kimberley will continue to update the public as further information becomes available.

Initial report

Kimberley Fire Department firefighters are currently on site at a .15-hectare ground fire in the Taylors Mill area east of the city core.

At this time, crews are unaware of the cause of the fire.

The City of Kimberley will continue to provide updates as they become available.
