Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it Chief and Council are pleased to share this quick update on the Governance Vote that took place on Monday, November 15.

“First, please celebrate that in terms of voter turnout, ʔakanuxunik̓ members made history with 54.6% of eligible voters participating. It is the highest percentage of voters ever,” chief and council reported on social media.

“Second, the voters provided clear direction in the vote.

“Out of 83 votes; 53 voted in favour of option A. Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it government should make key decisions over Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it traditional territory in 10 year’s time.

“Chief and council look forward to working with all ʔakanuxunik̓ members in the coming months. Look for more information to come. Taxas.”
